PAKISTAN: 191 political workers were killed in targeted attacks in Karachi city during the year 2009

Karachi-January 12, 2010: According to the statistics of Human Rights commission of Pakistan in the year 2009, in the city of Karachi, the largest industrial of Pakistan, 1747 were killed– among them were 1415 men, 198 women and 134 children. The percentage of accidents and murders has increased to 92%. Where, 80% were men, 12% were women and 8% were children.
291 Karachites were killed in 2009(political workers and innocents). Among these 191 were political workers.

WOMEN:

198 women were killed in year 2009.
75 women were killed by unknown people.
69 women were killed by their relatives due to following reasons:

  • 25 were killed during personal rifts.
  • 15 were killed because of love marriage.
  • 11 were killed because their character was in suspicion.
  • 10 were killed because of unknown reason.
  • 3 were sexually abused and killed.
  • 2 were killed because of rejection of marriage.
  • 2 were killed because of personal enmity
  • 1 was killed because of personal dislike.

30 women died of burning.
16 women in stampede.
7 women died of railway accident.
6 women died during resisting with dacoits.
5 women died in Karo Kari.
4 women died in bomb blast.
2 women died in linguistics clashes.

CHILDREN:

134 children were killed in 2009.
34 children died of unknown fire.
26 children died of rapid fire in cottages.
11 children were kidnapped, abused and killed.
10 children died of the irresponsibility of KESC, KBCA, and City Government.
10 children died of falling in main holes, sewage canals and dug places.
8 dead bodies were found from different places.
6 children died of falling in under ground tanks.
5 children died of drinking contaminated water.
4 children died of suffocation while getting free food stuff.
3 corps of infant children found from garbage heaps.
3 children died of railway accident.
3 children died of bomb blast.
2 children died of blasting gas cylinder.
2 were killed by their step father
2 were killed during linguistic clashes.
2 were killed during Lyari Gang war.
2 were killed of resisting with dacoits.
1 was killed because of irresponsibility of teenager car driver.
